Oregon Wine University classes

Oregon Wine University offers a variety of fun, engaging and unique classes that allow you to better understand, pair and treasure the fullness of wine from Oregon and beyond. These classes take place year-round!

Anchor Series: Featuring classes that pair wine with everything from award winning theater to world famous blue cheese to the perfect glass. This series offers fun and unique opportunities to be a more astute wine lover and is perfect for those new to wine tasting or a longtime expert.

Advanced Series: Mingle with talented winemakers and top wine professionals as they guide you to the next level of wine appreciation and education. This curriculum is tailored for the more advanced consumer and industry professional to enhance their knowledge of wine.

The Art of Barrel Tasting: April 28, 2022 – 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Trium Wines – It’s a 101 on barrel tasting! Get up close and personal with winemaker, Chris Graves, as he guides you through the nuances of wine straight from the barrel. It’s a unique, rare experience where you’ll learn the importance of the wine aging process and what to expect on your palate when it is thieved from the barrel. From amateur to expert, this class will prepare any wine enthusiast to bid like a pro on wine futures at the Founders’ Barrel Auction.

Farm to Glass: May 14, 2022 – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Troon Vineyard – Spend a day in the country among the vines with Regenerative Organic Agronomist, Garrett Long. Learn of the transformation of Troon Vineyard and their focus on Biodynamic viticulture and natural winemaking.

Rogue Creamery Cheese and Wine Pairing: June 4, 2022 – 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at EdenVale Winery – Tom Van Voorhees of Rogue Creamery is one of the only certified Frommagiers in Oregon. Tom will be joined by Sommelier, Andrea Jacoby and EdenVale Winery’s Anne Root and Winemaker Ashley Campanella to come up with the best and most unique wine and cheese pairings featuring award-winning wines from prior years of the Oregon Wine Competition. Their hip and refreshing delivery paired with their formidable knowledge makes this class extraordinarily popular!

Old World vs. New World: August 12, 2022 – 6 – 8 p.m. Physician by day and wine educator by night, Dr. Peter Adesman commands a cult “cork dork” following in Oregon. Dr. Adesman will lead a side-by-side tasting featuring some of the best wines produced in the Old World next to a number of the leading stars of Oregon’s vast varietals. Will your palate be of the world or prefer your own backyard?

Sip and Pottery: September 28, 2022 – 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Naumes Suncrest Winery: From Caveman to Picasso, art has been expressed in many ways throughout history and we invite you to contribute! Tap into your artistic nature as you learn to etch a personal masterpiece on a hand made ceramic mug. Benjamin Wood leads you through a step by step process of creation while you enjoy delicious wines from Naumes Family Vineyards.

A Perfect Pinot Pairing: November 9, 2022 – 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m at Asante Foundation: Come and enjoy a live cooking demonstration by Chef Carl Krause and savor his culinary creation with hand-selected Pinot Noirs presented by Certified Sommelier, Joseph Shaughnessy. Enjoy a tantalizing experience of taste and education as Joseph guides you through each “perfect Pinot pairing.”  Just in time for the holidays, you will leave with a recipe and bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir, sure to delight family and friends.

Bring on the Bubbles!: December 30, 2022 – 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harry & David Country Village: Just in time to bring in the new year, come enjoy the iconic Bubbles class at Harry & David Country Village. Taste and learn about a variety of sparkling wines and champagnes, sample Harry & David bites and leave with a special bottle of wine in hand.
