Oregon Wine University classes

Oregon Wine University offers a variety of fun, engaging and unique classes that allow you to better understand, pair and treasure the fullness of wine from Oregon and beyond. These classes take place year-round! Registration pages will be available on this page as classes are scheduled, and keep an eye out for emails.

Anchor Series: Featuring classes that pair wine with everything from award winning theater to world famous blue cheese to the perfect glass. This series offers fun and unique opportunities to be a more astute wine lover and is perfect for those new to wine tasting or a longtime expert.

Advanced Series: Mingle with talented winemakers and top wine professionals as they guide you to the next level of wine appreciation and education. This curriculum is tailored for the more advanced consumer and industry professional to enhance their knowledge of wine.

Rogue Creamery Cheese and Wine Pairing
Tom Van Voorhees of Rogue Creamery is one of the only certified Frommagiers in Oregon. Tom will be joined by Sommelier, Joseph Shaughnessy and EdenVale’s Anne Root to come up with the best and most unique wine and cheese pairings featuring award-winning wines from prior years of the Oregon Wine Competition. Their hip and refreshing delivery paired with their formidable knowledge makes this class extraordinarily popular!

The Art of Barrel Tasting
It’s a 101 on barrel tasting! Get up close and personal with winemaker, Chris Graves, as he guides you through the nuances of wine straight from the barrel. It’s a unique, rare experience where you’ll learn the importance of the wine aging process and what to expect on your palate when it is thieved from the barrel. From amateur to expert, this class will prepare any wine enthusiast to bid like a pro on wine futures at the Founders’ Barrel Auction.

Physician by day and wine educator by night – Dr. Peter Adesman commands a cult “cork dork” following in Oregon. Join Peter as he leads a side-by-side tasting of some of the best wines produced in the Old World next to some of the brightest stars produced in Oregon. Which wines will your palate prefer? Will you be able to tell which is which?

Cabernets for the Holidays
Join Certified Sommelier, Joseph Shaughnessy, for an educational flight of Cabernets that will warm you up for the holiday season! We will discuss the origins, history and prominent regions growing the worlds most planted grape; all while enjoying five wines from Rogue Valley and beyond!

Bring on the Bubbles
Do you love bubbles? Have you ever wondered what the difference is between Champagne and sparkling wine? Join us as we take over Harry & David’s Country Village after they have closed for the day. Celebrate with the knowledgeable team at Harry & David as we travel the world (and the store) through bubble filled glasses, learning about the different styles, how they are made, and what bites and flavors marry well.
